Key Stage 2 Mosque Visit 2026
Key Stage 2 Visit to York Mosque and Islamic Centre
Children from Key Stage 2 enjoyed a wonderful morning visiting the York Mosque and Islamic Centre as part of our work to develop a deeper understanding of different religious beliefs, cultures and communities.During the visit, the children spent time exploring the mosque and its prayer spaces, met the Imam, looked at books written in Arabic and learnt about the Five Pillars of Islam. They asked thoughtful questions and gained a valuable insight into the beliefs and practices of Muslims, helping to bring their Religious Education learning to life.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for the children to learn first-hand about a faith community and to reflect on the similarities and differences between religions, encouraging respect, understanding and curiosity about the world around them.
A special thank you goes to Miss Brown, who entered and won a local Religious Education competition. As a result, the visit was provided free of charge for all of the children, making this fantastic learning opportunity possible.
We are very proud of the children, who represented the school exceptionally well throughout the visit.
