Inspiring Futures at Kilham C of E Primary Careers Day 2025

Kilham C of E Primary School was buzzing with ambition and excitement on Thursday as pupils took part in the school’s  Careers Day 2025. The event encouraged children from all year groups to explore their dreams for the future and consider the steps they might take to achieve their goals.

Children arrived dressed as their chosen profession—ranging from vets to artists, doctors to dancers—each proudly prepared to explain their career choice and the reasons behind it. Discussions centred on job satisfaction, challenge, and the social and financial rewards of different roles.

Throughout the day, pupils explored various pathways into careers, including on-the-job training, apprenticeships, college, and university routes. Staff from the school shared their own career journeys, highlighting the choices and decisions that shaped their working lives.

In the lead-up to the day, whole-school worship sessions focused on gender stereotypes and equality, with children exploring the belief that anyone can pursue any career, given determination, a growth mindset, and hard work.

A highlight of the day was a series of talks from parents, who volunteered to share insights into their careers, including a solicitor, a photographer, a plumber, an RAF officer, and a record producer. Their stories inspired lively questions and thoughtful reflections from the children.

Headteacher Mr R Palmer said, “Careers Day is about raising aspirations and helping children understand that their futures are full of possibility. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and confidence in our pupils.”

The event was a resounding success, leaving children inspired and better equipped to think about the future with ambition and purpose.
