Traditional Sports Day at Kilham School: A Day of Fun and Competition
Kilham School held its much-anticipated traditional Sports Day on Thursday 10th July, and the weather couldn't have been better after an earlier cancellation. Under sunny skies, students, parents, and staff gathered on the school's sports field for an afternoon filled with excitement and camaraderie.
The day kicked off with classic events like the egg and spoon race, the sack race, and the bean bag race, bringing out the competitive spirit in everyone. The cheers from the side-lines were deafening as students enthusiastically supported their teammates, creating an atmosphere of encouragement and team spirit.
In addition to these traditional races, there were also individual sprints. Each event showcased the students' athleticism and determination, with many close finishes and impressive displays of sportsmanship.
One of the highlights of the day was the mums and dads races. These highly competitive events saw parents racing against each other, much to the delight of the cheering children. The spirited competition among the adults added an extra layer of fun to the day.
When all the races were completed and the points tallied, the blue team emerged victorious, scoring an impressive 134 points with the yellow team in second place with 126 points. Their win was met with loud applause and celebrations from team members and supporters alike.
Overall, Kilham School's traditional Sports Day was a resounding success, marked by good weather, enthusiastic participation, and a wonderful community spirit. The event not only highlighted the importance of physical activity but also reinforced the bonds between students, parents, and staff, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.

Rich Willis: Power lifting 5 times World Champion
The children had a brilliant time today working with Rich Willis who came into school to inspire our children to follow their dreams by working hard, showing resilience and determination and working towards your goals. Rich has a condition called Diastrophic Dwarfism which means that as an adult he only stands 3 feet 8 inches tall.
During his life Rich has had over 40 surgeries to his legs and feet and has limited mobility but this has not stopped him winning numerous British, European and 5 World Championship gold medals as well as holding more than 12 raw bench press world records, an amazing achievement.
Rich worked with the children on understanding disability awareness, goal setting and motivation as well as building self confidence.
