"Encourage one another and build each other up." (Thessalonians 5.11)
At Kilham Church of England Primary School we aim to provide a variety of extra-curricular clubs and activities for the children. Details of these are added to the School Calendar. The text messaging service will be used if any clubs or activities have to be cancelled at short notice. Permission slips for all after school clubs are available from the school office.
At Kilham we are very proud of our sporting success, particularly in local sport tournaments and events. This year we have made it to the East Riding championships for hockey, had 1st and 2nd place spots in the Biathlon and made it to the finals of the Driffield Area championships for swimming. We also enjoy a wide range of sport within school time, with children all the way from EYFS to year 6 enjoying a weekly session with a gymnastics coach and a cricket coach, to name just a few. We also offer cycling proficiency/bikeability courses, pedestrian skills training and scooter training. A week-long residential visit to Wales also takes place for Year 5 and 6 children every other year.
We are always reviewing sport at Kilham, and aim to ensure all children enjoy being active and have a range of different physical activities to choose from.
Rich Willis: Power lifting 5 times World Champion
The children had a brilliant time today working with Rich Willis who came into school to inspire our children to follow their dreams by working hard, showing resilience and determination and working towards your goals. Rich has a condition called Diastrophic Dwarfism which means that as an adult he only stands 3 feet 8 inches tall.
During his life Rich has had over 40 surgeries to his legs and feet and has limited mobility but this has not stopped him winning numerous British, European and 5 World Championship gold medals as well as holding more than 12 raw bench press world records, an amazing achievement.
Rich worked with the children on understanding disability awareness, goal setting and motivation as well as building self confidence.
