Easter Service 2026 " The Three Trees"

Easter Service  “The Three Trees”

Congratulations to all of the children and staff in Class Three who did a wonderful job at the All Saints Church, Kilham, reminding the whole school community about the true meaning of Easter.

Their Easter service, entitled “The Three Trees,” told the story of the life of Jesus from his time in the manger to his crucifixion, death, and resurrection. During the service, parents and children joined in our communal hymns “ This is Amazing Grace and Lord of the Dance”. It was wonderful to have such a gathering of our community, church members, and the village community.

The service also had an amazing vocal surprise when the children from class three sang the Stormzy version of Blinded by Your Grace which they had been practising in secret for weeks at home and in school.

Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who attended. We hope you enjoyed it, and thank you also to Reverend  Glynn, Rev Steve, and the church team for allowing us to share such an amazing building.

Sadly for the school, this was the last Easter Service for Reverend Glynn Owen, who is retiring soon. Mr Palmer shared these words and presented Rev Glynn with cards and presents from the school and the Governing Body.

“On behalf of everyone at Kilham C of E Primary School, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you and goodbye and good luck to Reverend Glynn Owen as he prepares to retire after more than 19 years of dedicated service as a school Governor and worship leader across the school.

Reverend Glynn has been a constant source of spiritual, pastoral, and moral guidance to our pupils, staff, and families—always offering support with warmth, wisdom, and inclusivity, regardless of faith. His commitment to our school community has been unwavering, and his influence has helped shape the caring and nurturing environment we are so proud of today.

Over the past two decades, Reverend Glynn has worked alongside many headteachers, helping to guide the school through times of change and celebration alike. His support during numerous SIAMS inspections has been invaluable, and his deep understanding of our Christian vision—“Encouraging one another and building each other up”—has helped bring it to life in meaningful and lasting ways.

Reverend Glynn, we are incredibly grateful for your dedication to our school and the wider community. It has been a privilege to work alongside you.

As a small token of our appreciation, we hope you enjoy the gifts we have prepared for you. We wish you all the very best in your retirement and hope you spend many happy and peaceful hours fishing on the beautiful chalk streams of East Yorkshire.”
