Harry Sheeder Gym Visit 2026
PE Curriculum Enrichment: Visit to Harry Sheeder Gym, Driffield
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality physical education, children in Classes 1 and 2 from Kilham C of E Primary School recently took part in a series of four morning or afternoon sessions at the Harry Sheeder Sports School gym in Driffield.
The children travelled by bus to the gym, where they participated in structured, age-appropriate physical activities led by qualified coaches in a professional sporting environment. The sessions supported and enhanced our PE curriculum, helping children to develop fundamental movement skills, strength, coordination and confidence in a fun and supportive setting.
Throughout the programme, the children thoroughly enjoyed using the specialist facilities and equipment at the gym. They showed great enthusiasm during each visit and embraced the opportunity to try new activities that are not always available within the school setting.
With the support and encouragement of the experienced Harry Sheeder Sports School coaches, the children learnt and practised a range of basic gymnastic skills, including balance, coordination, movement and body control. The sessions helped to build both confidence and resilience, while encouraging positive attitudes towards physical activity and fitness.
We were delighted to use a portion of the school’s Sports Premium funding to provide this enriching opportunity, ensuring that our children could benefit from high-quality coaching and experiences beyond the school site.
The visits were highly enjoyable and beneficial for all involved, and it was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm, confidence and engagement grow throughout the programme.
