New Arrangements for Flexible and Extended Provision

Full Flexibility

 

15 Hours Nursery – Government’s Core Offer:

 

Parents/Carers may choose from a morning session of 3 hours (Monday to Friday) 9.00am to 12.00pm or an afternoon session of 3 hours (Monday to Friday) 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

 

A full day, therefore, would use 6 hours (2 x 3hr sessions), plus £1.75 for a lunchtime session (see below).

 

Parents/Carers are asked to fill in a Parental Agreement with a timetable to state which sessions they would like to use to claim their 15 hours entitlement. As we need to arrange appropriate staffing for the nursery sessions, the hours claimed can normally only be changed with one term’s notice. (Please come and see us as soon as you know you would like to make changes).

 

Lunchtimes for Nursery Children

 

We are also able to offer lunchtime arrangements for those parents who wish to access child care for the period 12.00pm until 12.30pm (not covered by either morning or afternoon session).

 

This means that either session can be extended by half an hour and that we will still effectively be offering ‘full day’ care.

 

The cost of staying for the half hour lunchtime is £1.75. Due to staffing limitations, the lunchtime half-hour does not count as part of our core nursery offer, or as part of any purchased extra sessions. A register of children present will be taken by Mrs Javeleau (Midday supervisor) and Mrs Owen (Admin Officer) will invoice parents for lunchtime sessions taken.

 

Lunchtime sessions do not need to be booked in advance.

 

Extra Sessions

 

Parents may wish to take more than 15 hours. The rate we have to charge for extra time/sessions is £3.50 per hour, meaning a session will cost £10.50 (3 hrs)

 

We ask that parents complete an ‘Additional Hours’ Parental Agreement contract, for any extra sessions they may wish to purchase. The terms of this are the same for the core 15 hours, in that they can only be changed with a term’s notice.

 

We do appreciate that there are times when, as a parent, the opportunity to purchase an extra nursery session on a one-off or occasional basis would be useful! (We have found in the past that parents do!) Although we cannot guarantee a space for any session that has not been agreed on a contract, we do try and be flexible and we have found in the past that we have almost always been able to take the children for the session.

 

 

 

 

 

Practical Arrangements & Staffing

 

  • 2 members of staff at all times during morning and afternoon sessions, consisting of class teacher plus Nursery Nurse/Level 3 qualified teaching assistant: Combinations of Mrs Ewbank (Teacher), Miss Morrison (Teacher), Mrs Skelton and Mrs Martin.
  • 2 members of staff during lunchtime sessions: One of either Mrs Ewbank, Miss Morrison, Mrs Skelton, Mrs Martin, plus a midday supervisor (Mrs Javeleau)
  • Dinner would be a packed lunch from home, eaten in classroom, then the session would continue either indoors or out in FS playground.

 

 

Parental Agreements

 

As stated above, there are Parental Agreements with a timetable for choosing 5 3hr sessions as your entitlement to the 15 hour core offer, and a separate agreement for any extra sessions you wish to purchase.

We can help with these – the idea is that you sign up for core and additional hours but they can be changed termly according to circumstances.

Please note that all arrangements are ‘term-time only’.
