Kilham C of E Primary School Sponsored Walk 2023
Kilham C of E Primary School Sponsored Walk.
On Friday the 30th of June the children from Kilham School took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for their EYFS outdoor area and new reading books across the school. Children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 completed a there-and-back 7-mile route to Burton Agnes, through local green lanes and across fields. The original route was blocked with rapeseed plants but with the help of Mr I Redshaw and Mrs L McKie we were able to plan an alternative route along tractor tracks and the edges of fields. Thank you to both of these people for their support in making the walk go ahead. During the walk children survived the Valley of Doom and the Valley of Brambles before making it to Burton Agnes unscathed.
Younger children from Reception and Years 1 and 2 completed a sponsored walk route through the village before 2 laps of the Kilham Playing Fields completing 2 miles. All children returned to school at 2.30 pm to enjoy a sit-down and some ice pops provided by the PTFA.
Thank you to all of our parents and governors who joined the walk and supported the children when the going got tough.
Mr Palmer the headteacher stated that he was very proud of all of the children they have raised important funds for the school and completed a significant physical challenge with good humour and a great attitude. He particularly enjoyed the impromptu rendition of ABBA’s Mamma Mia as the children crossed the fields towards Burton Agnes. It was a fantastic community event.
