Our Church

We are very proud of our links with All Saint's Church, Kilham. We visit regularly for Harvest, Christmas and Easter. We also have a leaver's service in July for those children leaving to go to secondary school. We also visit regularly for lots of other reasons and Rev. Glyn visits us regularly to take collective worship. Please see our events galleries for further pictures.

RE ACTION CLASS 2 and 3

Children in class 2 and 3 took part in a RE action day on Wednesday 20^th November at the Emmanuel Church in Bridlington. The RE day was a whole day interactive and creative programme for Primary children which allowed our children to explore a topic or theme from the local statutory RE syllabus. Children were involved in several activities including a dance workshop,music workshop, pet puppet making and a reflection workshop.

Remembrance

Children from across Kilham C of E Primary School were involved in a number of Remembrance Day activities on Monday 11^th November. Children from EYFS through to year 5 joined together in the hall to remember all of fallen from conflicts around the world since the First World War and had a two minutes silence.

Children in year 6 were involved in their annual event at the war memorial outside Kilham All saints Church. During lesson times the children had learnt about the lives of soldiers from the Kilham area who had lost their lives in WW1 and WW2. Information about all of these individuals is currently on display inside the church. The children then wrote the names of all of the soldiers from Kilham on crosses which were planted at the foot of the memorial. All of the people in attendance then has a 2 minute silence to remember the sacrifice of all of these individuals.

Well done to all of the children in Class four and Mrs Atkinson for organising our Easter Service which incorporated class four’s production “The Donkey’s Tale”. The Donkey's Tale tells the Easter story and helped all of the children across school understand that Easter is the most important Christian festival as it celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead three days after he was executed by crucifixion.

It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents at the church for the service, and the artwork which has been produced by the children linked to their deeper understanding of Easter adding a splash of colour and Easter reflection.

REaction Bridlington Priory Thursday 20th

As part of our engaging curriculum, we are always looking at involving the children in thought-provoking and exciting projects. On Thursday 20^th children in Y6 joined other children from across the county in Bridlington.

This was the format for the day:

As children prepare for the next stage of their school and their life journey, REaction will look at how Changes can impact our life. Based on Unit 6.3 Hopes & Visions and using the Joseph story from the Old Testament, pupils will think about:

who they are
how life changes may affect them
how they might find ways of dealing with change
how they might offer to help others who struggle with change, and
what they personally may contribute to the world, in a wider context.

We shall be looking at the challenges of poverty and homelessness in the community, hoping to be able to work together with local Food Banks. We hope to find ways that the children can do something concrete to encourage people who need to use such facilities.

After returning to school, children across the school wrote a recount of the day.
