All of the children at Kilham C of E Primary School are encouraged to live their lives following important Christian Values. As a school we work hard to challenge ingrained stereotypes and for our children to understand that throughout the World there are children who struggle against disadvantage and deprivation. Children at school are supported to question the current status quo and have the courage to challenge intolerance. Children at Kilham school are also encouraged to engage in charitable giving at home and abroad and be advocates of positive changes for good.
As part of this work the school is developing a close link with Dias Farm School in South Africa, a previous member of staff from Kilham school now works at the school. Over the coming year, senior leaders at both schools are looking at developing opportunities to engage in projects around several curriculum themes including geography and DT. This work will look at using technology to support closer links while also building in time for children across both schools to write to each other, get to know each other and build a strong and lasting bond.
The children and principal (Sindi Tyala) of Dias FarmSchool – South Africa have sent a very big thank you to the children and families of Kilham for the £112.61 that we raised as a school during our bake sale in aid of her school. Our school is starting to establish closer links with Dias Farm and we have received letters from some children including Sindiswa Dobo. (See Sindiswa and his letter below)
Children in Kilham have learnt about his life in an assembly and enjoyed reading her letter, at the moment children in class 3 are writing a reply. We hope to build on this developing relationship and raise money in future to support the school.
