"Encourage one another and build each other up." (Thessalonians 5.11)
On Monday 19th November children from class 4 went to visit the new mosque in York. During the day they spent time with the Imam Abid Salik and had a tour around the mosque. Children were able to ask lots of questions and the Imam spoke to them about the five pillars of Islam, children learnt that muslims pray 5 times a day and always pray facing Mecca. The visit ended with the Imam saying "As-Salamu Alaykum" which the children learnt meant "Peace be with you". When they returned to school children continued to learn about all aspects of Islam, wrote a recount of the visit and a thank you letter to the Imam.
