Young Voices 2025
In a spectacular celebration of music and unity, 29 pupils from Kilham C of E Primary School joined over 4500 children from across the North of England at the Young Voices Choir event held at the Utilita Sheffield Arena on Monday, 27th January 2025.
The children, who form part of Kilham’s dedicated school choir, spent the day in exhilarating rehearsals and vibrant performances alongside pupils from as far afield as Middlesbrough. The day was an unforgettable experience, as the young voices filled the arena with songs spanning a variety of genres, including “Let’s Dance,” “Marley Magic,” and the exciting “Pop Medley 2025.”
After rehearsing all day, the students had the opportunity to perform in front of more than 2000 parents and grandparents who had gathered to cheer them on. The emotional atmosphere was heightened by the stunning performances from the young choir members, who sang with passion and energy, leaving the audience captivated. The event was further elevated by the appearance of special guests Tommy Blaize, the iconic lead singer of the BBC Strictly Come Dancing band for 20 years, alongside MC Grammar and Souparnika Nair. Their performances added a special touch to the evening, creating an unforgettable experience for the young performers and their families.
“This has been an incredible experience for our pupils,” said Mrs K Saltonstall, music subject leader at Kilham C of E Primary School. “Not only are they performing on a huge stage in front of thousands, but they’re also working alongside so many other talented children. The whole day has been a wonderful opportunity for them to grow in confidence and enjoy the magic of music.”
The Young Voices Choir event is renowned for bringing together thousands of school children in a vibrant display of musical talent, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere. Kilham C of E Primary School’s pupils, aged between 8 and 11, were proud to represent their school among such an impressive gathering of young performers.
The day wasn’t just about performance but also about learning and collaboration. It provided the children with the opportunity to bond with their peers, gain new musical skills, and experience the sense of unity that only music can provide.
